About Us

At the heart of Shared-Practice is our belief that sharing is one of the foundations of economic development and community. It is through this common belief that we, as individuals and as a design community, will grow and prosper.

We are proud to announce the launch of Shared-Practice, an innovative resource, event calendar, and resource for you, the design community. Our mission is to promote and connect the design community. Shared-Practice will integrate design professionals, fabricators, educators, businesses, students, and design enthusiasts.

Shared-Practice is for designers looking for valuable resources needed to grow their practices, and for businesses looking for designers with specific skills and services. Designers and enthusiasts alike can find out about the many lectures and events happening in the city through the centralized event calendar. Shared-Practice connects architecture, interior design, industrial/object design, graphic design, fashion/apparel, landscape architecture, urban design, and interaction design practitioners, along with businesses and fabricators.

Information and resources on the site will be generated by you, Shared-Practice members, and all postings will be verified in order to ensure quality and integrity. We aim to champion a more human online exchange through an open culture of trust and accountability. Through this open and centralized online platform, Shared-Practice supports, draws together, and encourages the growth of a worldwide network of local creative communities.

Shared-Practice is co-founded by Felicia Ferrone and David M. Krell. Felicia Ferrone studied architecture at Miami of Ohio before beginning her career in Milan, Italy, apprenticing with some of today’s most influential architects and product designers. Her work has been inducted into The Art Institute of Chicago’s Architecture and Design Collection and is a recipient of a Good Design Award. In the fall of 2010 she presented a new body of limited-edition work for Volume Gallery. Founder of fferrone design and co-founder of Shared-Practice, she also teaches design at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago. David M. Krell was raised in Honduras, Germany, England, Mexico, and Chicago. This international upbringing nurtured a unique global perspective that now drives his work and interests. He works in branding, graphics, and product design. His work has been exhibited internationally in Milan's Salone and regionally. He has been published in the August 2009 issue of Grazia Casa and L’Officiel 1000 Design Models 2009-2010. We look forward to your participation.

Sincerely,

Felicia and David
